HANDS, in the few months of its existence, has scored a number of successes with regard to its goals:- Ongoing Projects/Completed Projects:

The HANDS team has conducted awareness lectures in a number of schools at Kalimpong. This is also an ongoing programme.
Outreach programme conducted by HANDS has brought in almost 100 drug abusers and Alcoholics, in an avrage every month, to the day care centre to receive counseling and therapeutic input session.
Adult education on AIDS and drug abuse is being pursued vigorously.
H.A.N.D.S. Rehabilitation and Treatment Centre has been successfully treating Chemically Dependent People ever since it was inaugurated on 11^th of April 2009. Performance Chart of the Year 2009-2010 & 2010-2011 are as follows.

Services:

AIDS and Drug Abuse Awareness: HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse awareness programmes were held in various schools, villages and in town area.This is an ongoing programmes.
Health Care: Abscess managementÂ is provided to a few clients.
Counseling:Â Individual Counselling, group counsellingÂ sessionsÂ is givenÂ to the clientsÂ ( injecting drug users (IDU) and alcoholics).family counselling also taken place in the day care centre.For those who want to go for HIV blood test,pre and post test counselling is given to the clients.
Adult Education: Adult Education programme is being pursued inÂ Kalimpong Town Hall for the community/public and IEC(Information,Education,Communication) Materials were also distributed.
IEC Materials Provided: During Independence Day Celebrations in Kalimpong, HANDS staffÂ distributed HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse pamphlets and over 2000 copies were distributed among students and the public.It is distributed to the people in every programme where HANDS is done.
Input Session:Â Therapeutic input sessionsÂ is conducted to the clientsÂ in the day care centre.
Focus Group Discussion:Â Focus group discussion(therapeutic input sessions)is conductedÂ everyday in the day care centre.
Outreach programmes:Â Outreach programmes were done by our outreach workers and broughtÂ many clients into the day careÂ Â centre.
Recreational: Recreation is provided to the clients every day at the day care centre.
Home visit: Home visits areÂ done toÂ give counseling to the affected and infected people as well as their family members.
After Care for recovering addicts: Recovering addicts who have come out after completing long term rehabilitation programs are given support by counseling and they spend time in the day care centre.
Follow Up: Follow up work is done with clients who are less motivated.
Referral Service: HANDS had referred some clients for HIV blood test to the ICTC.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitoring and Evaluation of the completed work was done by the co-ordinator at the end of the month.
